GRO Makes Investment in QUMEA to Accelerate Leadership in AI-powered and Privacy-First Patient Care across Europe

COPENHAGEN, Denmark – October 03, 2025 – GRO, a leading Northern European private equity firm focused on B2B software, today announced a strategic investment in QUMEA, a Swiss healthtech innovator redefining patient safety through AI-powered radar technology. The investment will support QUMEA’s continued expansion across Europe and further strengthen its position as the market leader in privacy-first patient monitoring. It is made through GRO’s Generation Fund, which backs pioneering European tech companies in select core investment themes.

Founded in 2019, QUMEA is the market leader in digital mobility monitoring in hospitals and care homes. The system captures anonymous radar-based movement data, applies AI-driven analysis, visualizes it, and automatically provides information about potentially critical situations. Patient privacy is fully protected as no cameras or microphones are used. Somatic hospitals have achieved an average reduction in falls of 74 %, setting a new standard in proactive and preventative patient care.

Unlike camera-based and optical systems, QUMEA’s radar collects anonymous motion data only, capturing no visual or personal information whilst being highly accurate. By delivering AI-driven alerts, the platform significantly reduces response times, leading to a measurable decrease in fall incidents. Fewer falls improve the overall patient experience while freeing up valuable healthcare resources – saving both time and costs.

Today, QUMEA’s technology is used in over 130 institutions across the DACH region and the Nordics. The company is scaling swiftly across Europe, having recently won Europe’s largest tender for digital mobility monitoring, issued by Sweden’s Västra Götaland Region. In 2025, QUMEA was also named the winner of the Swiss Medtech Award, underscoring its leadership in patient-focused innovation. The growth trajectory of QUMEA follows a larger trend in the industry which becomes increasingly concerned over issues regarding privacy and ethical considerations.

The partnership with GRO will accelerate QUMEA’s geographical expansion, product development, and scaling journey towards becoming a leading patient safety platform – enabling QUMEA to meet the growing demand from healthcare institutions that face increasing strains of care combined with immense staff shortages, creating an urgent need for intelligent automation.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with the visionary founders behind QUMEA,” said Kirsten Vedel Møller, Vice President at GRO. “QUMEA’s breakthrough technology is already transforming patient care across Europe, by enhancing safety, protecting privacy, and easing the burden on healthcare professionals. This is exactly the kind of innovation we love to support – deeply meaningful, highly scalable, and clearly beneficial to both patients and the systems that serve them.”

Cyrill Gyger, CEO at QUMEA:

“While a broad range of leading investors demonstrated strong interest in QUMEA, GRO truly distinguished themselves. From our very first conversations, GRO stood out with their profound sector insights and a remarkable track record of scaling high-tech companies internationally. Their commitment is a strong endorsement of QUMEA’s maturity and leadership position, and reinforces the scalability of our business model. Beyond their expertise, we feel an extraordinary personal fit with the GRO team. The alignment in mindset and values gives us great confidence as we pursue ambitious growth together. We are very excited to embark on this next phase with GRO.”

Lars Lunde, Partner at GRO, reflects on the investment:

“This investment perfectly reflects our mandate to back highly innovative European technology companies advancing resilient societies – principles at the core of Qumea’s technology. We’re proud to support the team at this pivotal stage, laying the groundwork for long-term impact – especially in Switzerland, where we’ve already seen strong momentum through our partnership with Akselos. It’s a clear expression of GRO’s broader vision to unleash the power of software to make life better.”

The partnership represents GRO’s continued commitment to supporting purpose-driven technologies that improve life and enable smarter resource use in critical sectors like healthcare.
